Sometimes we find ourselves looking at the gate.
And our key doesn’t fit the lock anymore.
So we climb over.
But the driveway isn’t the same as it was before.
It’s now empty.
And the house isn’t the way it was before.
How we remember it.
In fact, the door isn’t even there to open
They never replaced it.
When we find ourselves waiting we search for something
That will open up the gate and close the door
But we end up climbing the fence instead of looking
For the thing we need–
So that we don’t have to climb the fence anymore.
Something that reminds us it is not too late.
To find another door. To open up the gate.
